Kingairp,

Once the hiring kicks in most new hires will be able to be based anywhere there are 88s or 717s after the seat lock ends.

Guys are getting caught up in the "its taking 3 years to hold xxx" mentality. Well that is true if we have not hired in 3 years. During the last big hiring cycle (1996-2001) pilots were bidding off their new hire seats (mostly FE) while still in initial training. Since then two things have changed, no more FEs, and a 1 year seat-lock for new hires.

These changes will push out to the 1 year mark the time a new hire may have to wait to bid off their assigned seat.

I predict that by summer of 2015 almost all new hires will be able to get to any narrow body FO seat and base withing 1 year.
