Eagle is a good example of what you are talking about though. Isn't Pinnacle owned by Delta now?

The wholly owned carriers definitely fit in that group(eagle, PSA, pdt, pinnacle, others?). The word "affiliate" carrier could be used to refer to a United Express/UAL relationship, in my opinion. Either way it would be a legal battle that the newhire has to fight on their own depending on how JB interprets things.
