Is a settlement announcement imminent in the American Airlines-US Airways case?

Last week, someone who should know suggested that the chances for a settlement in the US Airways-American Airlines antitrust lawsuit had jumped to 85 to 90 percent.

Today, I’m told that a settlement announcement may be imminent, within the next day or so.

Is it true? Some investors apparently think so. US Airways shares were up 87 cents to $24.14 as of about 9:30 a.m., and AMR shares had climbed 15 cents to $9.67.

We’ll keep checking.
