I don't hold much hope on ALPA influencing that. Do you?
I'm not saying this isn't an important issue, but man are we ever ignoring the far more serious problems.
First, we've outsourced OVER 50% of Delta branded flying. ALPA national refuses to even discuss that even though it's a huge threat to the majors and something not even wanted by the regional pilots.
Second, the RLA protects railroads from having their contracts gutted in a bankruptcy. Airline labor is excluded from THAT portion of the RLA, but included in all the rest. Like being stuck with the NMB before we can strike, etc. We have the worst of all worlds now by having the threat of bankruptcy taking 50% or more from us in one bite, but then have to fight getting that 50% back due to the NMB's interference. This is the biggest threat of all, and again, ALPA is completely silent on the issue. Not a single word. No attempt at all to either make airlines totally part of the RLA, or remove us from it completely.
IMO, our priorities are completely f'd up.
