It seems hit or miss. The only general rule is that if you have prior turbine or 121 time you're a bit more likely to start on the CRJ. CFIs tend to start on the Brasilia. That's not a hard rule though. My room mate when I was a CFI started on the CRJ and I got the brasilia. When you're hired you can try requesting either one too. They're especially willing to let people switch who actually want to be on the brasilia.
