I am no fan of Simsek and maybe he should go for a variety of reasons, but these bloggers are so much hot air. They proclaim not to be arm chair CEO's, but in fact that is what they are bloviating about. For them they are all about themselves, cheap fares, and shareholder returns. They would pay employees Wal-Mart wages if their fares would be one dime cheaper. Safety is of no concern to them, it is about their next upgrade.
They want to get to the gate 5 minutes before departure and expect royal treatment. They are too obtuse to recognize that if everyone did that, no one would leave on time. They don't care about connections of others, much less about the people waiting for the gate, ATC constraints, slot times, etc.
The solution would be to outlaw all "loyalty programs," let the airlines compete simply on performance and transparent fares. While, it is unlikely for this to happen, no one should feel for these sorry, entitled, elites.
