I had the holiday off, but regardless, it would've been nice for the company to go a little above the menial gesture if providing meal for pilots who had to work on a holiday.
A nice, hot buffet served by a manger from the chief pilot's office would be much more genuine of gesture as opposed to a brown bag filled with a constructive-engagement turkey and good faith mashed potatoes. Granted it is the thought that counts, but sometimes it's also the degree of effort.
After two long haul flights where they could have loaded crew meals on then, I had a few buffalo wings at the hotel bar when I got to my layover on Thanksgiving. I was grateful that they were open.
I'm also grateful that I'm not carrying those extra 3-5 pounds everyone is complaining about after this weekend.
