I haven't counted exactly yet, but it seems to me that the 73n trips I'm looking at for Jan have MANY MANY more 3-legs on the last day than they used to. Seems the answer to all that rest for block time is this: just fly the hell out of them on the last day, and then they'll get plenty of rest after the trip!
For the 73, it used to be 1-2 legs a day, and an 8 leg 4-day was kinda heinous. Also, as we suspected... all the good Caribbean layovers are gone. Now we have 3 nights in a row at JFK instead, and all the SJU, AUA, SDQ, PUJ, MBJ trips are all just turns out of JFK.
We almost never had trips ending at 2300ish--just 2 or 3 usually. This month there are 19 trips that land at 2359. Yes, that's right, they tweaked the cost index to give them a 3 day trip instead of a 4 day trip 19 times. Trip blocks out at 0029, 19 of them, and they are all 4 days paying 15.45 to 17.10 hours credit. WOW can you say super-crp? Low-pay 4 day where you have to pay for your own hotel room the last night for commuters!
It's hard to keep a positive outlook in this job... every couple months, something else happens that reduces the quality of life. Sliding backwards still in seniority despite seemingly plenty of capt spots being AEd, more flying on the trips now up to the 9hr block point, and shorter layovers.
I think BB is right-- after looking at the Jan trips, I don't think my "they're all pretty much equal if not redeyes, just bid day's off," philosophy isn't a good one any longer. I think I'll have to go through the package and list all the dogs as avoids or something.
hmm... must... keep...positive.... let's see. Ok, how's this? Even though they cut the delta flights for my commute from 6 to 3 for Dec, at least ONE of them is still mainline! Yaaay...
