I guess we should define long term. I don't consider 5 yrs in the business world long term, especially in this industry. A guy getting hired today will be told growth, yet by the time he is about to upgrade or have it there will be a reduction/stagnation.

No offense to you personally but I don't feel pilots in general think far enough into the future. We may hope to be at a major for 25-30yrs of our careers but when management looks into running a business, our career length is of no interest to them. They look at numbers and viability several years/decades down the road. If pilots would think like that they would see why certain arrangements are being made now. With some of the offers being presented, if agreed to by pilots, will harm future new hires worse than today at the next stagnation; which will occur after these wave of retirements; ie. 15-20yrs down the road.
