Let me just add some perspective. This profession as a whole has run so fast down hill from its peak. I think everyone can agree on that. Whether your at UPS, AA, UAL, etc there has been a considerable decline from what many of you experienced decades ago.

But consider this. Now a pilot typically starts 121 in a regional making $25 something an hour, barely being able to eat unless he can somehow supplement his income with a business, side job, spouse, etc. Then after years of FO regional pay and countless abuse, he just might make CA (after 7+ yrs FO as it stands for most regional's now)...he's back to CA RSV getting abused miserably. Mind you that most regional's (scheduling that is) do not treat pilots any better than they would their flee bitten dog.

So now say UPS starts to hire. Do you honestly think that guy is not going to try to get out of the rat trap regional business model of pay concessions for new planes or threatens you to shut your operation down?

It won't matter if UPS hires or AA, UAL, DAL, Atlas, SWA, JBLU, etc...that regional pilot is trying to get out no matter what. The only one's that don't, have usually given up and missed their chance to leave anyway and are senior enough to not deal with anything else that happens at a regional...it doesn't effect them regardless.

So yeah, 2nd year UPS or FedEx pay sounds pretty good to most guys regardless of anything else.
