Forgot to mention before ...while you don't need the active CFI cert at all, it would be helpful if you ever apply to be a check-airman, and will also add to your total score on many major airline's computer application systems. For that reason, you might consider re-instating those ratings by re-taking the CFII checkride (which will re-instate all your ratings) as your path to currency. But don't fail it, that will do more harm than not having it.
