Unanswerable question. Why do you automatically assume the 10 year CA is the better pilot? What if this same 10 year CA has busted an interview at Southwest, Northwest, and United? (true story). Now is that still the better pilot for Delta?
Swamp answered the question in the appropriate manner. We cannot judge a pilot for being better simply because they have more time or TPIC or a degree. The fact of the matter remains that Delta requires a 4-year college degree. Nothing else should matter. Does the pilot have a 4 year degree, 1200 total time, and 1000 turbine SIC/PIC? If so, this person is qualified for a job at Delta. A 10 year CA at a regional with 4000 TPIC and no degree is not qualified for Delta. It doesn't matter who is a "better" pilot, he simply isn't qualified for Delta per the minimum requirements.
