Me too, but, the MD88 is a different animal JMHO. There's just too much oddball stuff on that jet to put a Captain fresh off IOE into one with a new hire flying his 101'st hour at Delta.
As a copilot there's a lot of craziness. As a captain, you just look over at the copilot sweating and huffing and puffing as he's pushing and pulling levers, warming up the steam engine, and feeding the horde of angry monkeys in the avionics bay. You take a sip of your coffee, use both hands to turn the tiller, and ask the copilot if he's busy or something.
