The 76T fleet is overstaffed by several hundred pilots already, in a year or two, it will be overstaffed by a thousand.
It is every airline pilots dream to get paid to sit at home. They will have to be dragged (bumped) kicking and screaming, out of that position.
I understand paying them to sit reserve may be ultimately cheaper than training all of them, but if they are so overstaffed then why do they continue to train new hires for 76T positions? I don't get that. 8 vacancies posted in the last bid. If these are from pilots going to 756, why would the company not just eliminate those 76T positions as pilots transistion over?
