Hell, the 2008 hires practically "won the lottery" compared to the 2000 and 2001 guys. Just a few numbers junior, 7-8 years younger, missed the furloughs and the glory years of 2002-2006.

I just looked.... and as a 2001 hire I will be able to hold the most Junior Captain position New York 88 (8114ish) in January of 2020. I will be able to hold the most Junior Captain position in my base mid 2023. Over a 31 year career I will be a captain for about 8 years assuming I don't bid captain in NY. If I do bid first Capt position available and commute I will be a captain for about 11 years. Not the career I envisioned.
