I don't disagree with that statement either. But the sooner you have the opportunity to bid captain regardless of if you bid it or not, has more impact on your QOL than any other factor at the airline. It will give you the opportunity to be a senior FO with huge amounts of QOL as well as the opportunity to bid captain at a later date for QOL.
