I have seen 25 years of OMG they are going to cancel tons of flights for no crew on a holiday. Somehow it never happens. If you want the holiday off screen your calls and stay home if you held the days off. Works fine lasts a long time!
The first turn of my trip cancelled this afternoon due to no First Officer available to work it. Flight was booked almost full up there and back. I'm enjoying spending an extra half day at home with my family before I have to report now late tonight, but honestly I'd rather have gotten those 300+ people to their destinations to be with their families for Christmas.
