Supply and demand applies to this industry but not the way you're thinking. If a carrier no longer has the ability to provide sufficient lift another carrier will provide it. If those actions don't solve the problem the mainline carrier can and will pick and choose what route and city pairs they would like to keep or no longer serve. Raising revenues for any business is generally for the operations of the business and not for the benefit of employees.
