Fookz -

You fell into a trap - of sorts.

You had no experience to speak of and you managed through a connection (good first step into networking) to land in the right seat of a Mustang. It was an opportunity, IF you could have made something of it. That means had the opportunity to spend a timespan building total time, then eventually getting that PIC (preferably SP) rating and building more time (METPIC) until you had a decent background with which to get your resume noticed by prospective employers.

Instead, you by-passed the time honored and well traveled path of CFI (one that I don't even necessarily agree with but that is beside the point) for a shot at something **different**. In this case that difference - a few hundred hours in a VLJ business class jet sitting right seat (almost worthless if not required by OpSpec's or mission), an eventual PIC rating (NOT single pilot), but doubtful you logged PIC time, and you are still in the incredibly early stages of a potential aviation career. the **different** path was cut short because your contact up'ed his quals beyond needing you there and now you sit with some interesting experience to talk about in an interview, but in the grand scheme of things not worth a whole lot of anything to a serious aviation employer.

In essence Fookz, you are back to square one that every pilot with 400TT finds themselves in EXCEPT you have the knowledge that you have a tad of extra experience in a VLJ, and have passed a FSI jet type rating course, which ought to make you feel pretty good about your abilities, but now you are going to have to put in the leg work.

PS - Knowing Cub personally, I seriously doubt if he let a smidgen of jealousy into his comment. He might have had a hand in engineering that Mustang that you flew
