I went through the process for my FAA CPL and ATPL for a NZ one. For the ATPL you need current Class 1 medical and also get a NZ one. Dr. Richard Batt in Parnell does NZ ones, and Reumera Doctors just outside Parnell do both. I might have the phone numbers laying around.

You will need to sit the Air Law, similiar to FAA regs, but in meters and KMs instead of feet and miles. I had a study guide for it, think I got that from the site Koru mentioned above. Also there is Air NZ guy that has a study course, PPSC, will have to look for his number as well.

And finally, with the ATPL you have to do a flight test, and from what I was told has to be with an approved airline, and yup, the only approved airline is Air NZ. So I had to book the 320 sim.

Best thing to do is call or email Guy or Brain down at ASL, www.aviation.co.nz and also down load the Fit and Proper Person Form from CAA as this is required now. Basically your driving and criminal record from which ever country you spend most of your time.

Hope that helps as well

Oh yeah for the Air Law test, you have to schedule from ASL, and if you want to sit in AKL better do that soon. Usually a month ahead of time, otherwise you can sit any test down in Lower Hutt at the head office on MON, TUE THUR or something like that.
