I did a YS on a day off a few months ago. Here is why. There was a nice 4 day CDG trip and had I not YS it I would have been put on SC coming off of my days off. Instead of commuting in on the 7th to sit SC on the 8th, I commuted in on the 7th and flew to Paris that night. Another time I YS a trip on a day off because it prevented me from getting a very crappy trip that was sitting in open time that I would have otherwise been assigned. Maybe he is trying to fill up to get the end of the month off? Many other reasons I could fathom.
