To add to that, the major airlines will be hiring quite a few pilots to replace thousands of pilots in the age 65 retirement bubble that's coming over the next 10 years. So these AD and Guard guys will have another employment option.

I remember when the majors were hiring in the mid 80's, and again in the mid 90's, guys were bailing out of active duty by the thousands, and out of the guard/reserves as well. Some got a bonus to stay in, then about 5 years later, another bonus to get out!
