They are posting a bid for 50 additional FO's in early Feb. There will be little or no displacements in the category in the future. Pilots will however not be replaced as they bid off. This has been known for at least 3 years. The good news is that they are retiring the aircraft slower then originally planned and the retirements of the modified aircraft will not be until after 2020. Before the mods were announced they were going to keep retiring 757's every year. Overall the fleet changes announced are great news.
The plan when we signed the current contract had us increasing the fleet to 796 aircraft or a gain of 80 or so airframes net. It now looks like we will have 240 additional airframes and only 75 or so retirements. That is a nice change in the right direction.
