BTW - haven't flown UAL in a decade and was very impressed with the cabins and more importantly the crews. Very professional and helpful at all levels and areas (this flight was during the polar vortex of cancellations last week).
The 764 is a good jet, it's just not a great jet. It's basically a stretched 767-300er with a 777-lite cockpit. It doesn't have the range of the -er, but carries more people, or the magic of the 777. In the class of aircraft it falls into, it is a lesser machine than the -330.
