Along the same line, If you are awarded a line that does not conflict and you elect to protect minimum days off, can you ask for what trips you wish to drop? Do they honor your request? If you drop a trip do those hours go into makeup? Can you make up all or some of those hours during the conflict input window before secondary lines are built?

Do you care?
Are you Bored with me Yet?
Being a regular secondary line holder (10 of the last 12 bid periods), I'm fairly familiar with the process.

If you are awarded a VTO and elect to protect min days off due to Carryover, you will be built a line that has the minimum number of days off. The time that is removed or not built in to your secondary line will go into your General Makeup Bank. Usually, your line will have more CH than a "normal" secondary line due to the 1 week TAFB trip that is already on your line added to a built secondary line in the new bid period that will give you pretty much exactly the min days off for the bid period.

The thing you will NOT get with protecting min days off AND and VTO is an opportunity for a monthly makeup bid during the View/Add window. Those opportunities are only for Regular and Reserve Line Holders.

As FDXLAG said.. if you are awarded a [Regular or Reserve] line, you will get first crack at the open trips during the view/add window if you elect to protect min days off.

Hope this helps..

and of course we all care.

Oh.. and an added thing, they do a fairly good job at honoring your requests on which trips or R-days to remove if you elect to protect min days off. Although, it's VERY straight forward for my seat 777FO because the longer trips either protect or violate the min days off. YMMV on the A300.
