May. I would bet that some of those would be filled by trickle down bids, and the remainder by new hires.

To any CO guys here. Trickle downs are a new concept. It means that if there are a large number of people bidding out of a fleet/seat/domicile, they may award some unadvertised vacancies. So, what this means, for example, is if there are a bunch of SFO 777 Captain bids, many likely candidates would be current SFO 76T captains. Currently there are no current open bids for that position, SFO 76T Capt. If too many bid out, there could be some of those openings filled.

Bottom line, if there is a bid you want, but not advertised, go ahead and put it on the bid page, it won't hurt your bid. You never know what the trickle downs may be--with the caveat, only really bid what you want, you can get stuck with something you don't.
