By the time you get out of training/IOE you are looking at 9-10 months of 20 something dollars an hour. I cancelled cable/internet, packed my own food for the whole 4 day trip, etc. Living in base helps a lot and obviously if your wife/girlfriend works that helps as well. But having some savings and living within your means is probably the only way to get through it without accruing some additional debt. That being said once you get past first year pay it really is not that bad, especially if you have a line and are able to pick up additional flying over guarantee.
