ASE is at 7800' with 8,000' of runway for take-off, 7,000 for landing. 15 has a 2% upslope, so that made things worse for this crew.
80,000# is about 5.5-6.0 hours with good reserves, alternates plus an hour.
Fisher: the 605 will make the east coast out of ASE, but that's about it.

Wow, that's a pretty short runway for that elevation! I'm wondering what their approach speed might have been (140?), and then correct that to true airspeed at 8000', then add the 30 knot tailwind. I'm guessing their groundspeed was around 200? Trying to land on 7000'??
Even if they did everything right, that was going to be tight.
Have a good trip back. I hope you packed your long johns, it's going to be very cold when you get home.
