It doesn't sound like your a guy that wants to stick around at a regional, but there are plenty of them out there. Guys who don't see it as being worth it to give up their QOL to go commute to the northeast, take a pay cut for a few years (although they are missing out on 401k and profit sharing and other incentives). Those guys were the majority of the 17% of the Asa/Xjt pilots who voted yes.
I agree regional airlines are a suppression on the overall profession and definitely slow career progression. I'm happy to see all the movement happening and very happy we said No.
My guess as to the pilot shortage: cadet style programs, but not after they realize how short they really are and prolong it with a 67 retirement age rule.
This pilot shortage rhetoric is making me sick: triple these entry level poverty wages and we’ll see if there is a shortage.
