Your entire career here is gonna be punctuated with large amounts of rumors, little to no correct answers, and the eventual realization, that no matter what decision you make, with the best information you can glean, will undoubtedly turn out to be the wrong one!
Once you acknowledge and embrace the information void, your career will be much happier. Remember, don't like the rumor you just heard? Wait a bit, you'll hear a contradictory one soon. The game plan changes every 4 to 6 weeks and the left hand doesn't know what the right hand has been doing for the last several years.

Best advice ever. I guess the bottom line is that we did get hired, and hopefully we all have jobs right now. In the light of keeping one's expectations low, 18 months is not so bad compared to a fruitful 20-30 years career. Considering how many great guys out there are trying to get on, we are so very lucky. We got dealt a really good hand here.
