I dont believe you use the link from airlineapps for anything other than internal recs from current DL employees as this sends the request to their company email. For external recs you simply fill out their contact info and employer directly.
Well after looking into the addendum section a little further I saw this note:
"Delta Air Lines accepts professional recommendations from Delta employees
as well as sources external to our company. Use this link to send a request to anyone wanting to submit a recommendation. You must know their email address. The recommender will be sent a detailed email that provides tools to generate the online recommendation."
Based on that, it sounds like externals are ok as well. Regardless, its the same email link, you either put someone in with a @delta.com or @xxxx.com email if they are external. Good to know.
