Did you see the AME yet? If not, you'll have another opportunity to update and sign the hardcopy, that should suffice.
If you already saw the doc, I'd maybe contact whatever legal/medical service you have (AOPA, union, etc) and run this by them. I'm 99.99% sure that if you just notify the FAA in writing there will not be any issues.
This was a question to take into consideration before hand. I called FAA,and they said to inform the Doctor when I get there and go from there. Apparently no isssue will occur.
I had a few issues with surgeries this time around so I am being really careful to bring in all of my documentation. Worst case would be to forget to inform and regret later. None of my issues are disqualifying.
