But on a serious note.... Is the recruitment really that short that the possibility of near term staffing is a threat? I know about the regional level issues and have heard cockpit talk about low percentages showing up to classes but can anyone at Republic give any recent real numbers?
Hows this: I was hired early 2011; 21 were hired to be in the class, 3 are here toady, and 2 have interviews with JetBlue.
A recent recurrent class took a poll of the FOs who were in attendance. Every single one was looking to go elsewhere. They were unconcerned about upgrading, they just wanted to get the hell away from Republic. I personally know 5 FOs who have left in the last few weeks, and as an FO, I really don't know that many other FOs.
A lack of staffing is becoming a serious issue, crew scheduling is telling pilots who request drops or trades that there are no reserves systemwide for the entire month of February and the 117 rules have left most pilots with 12 days off per month with uncommutable trips. flights are being cancelled at an alarming rate because of a lack of crews and people are showing up for SIM rides only to find out that their SIM partner quit within the last few days/weeks and there is no one to seat fill. E145 captain vacancies are not being filled.
