The thing about UPS is that they were burned. Those being recalled won't be furloughed again (knock on wood!). They won't recall or hire until absolutely necessary and we've hit that point. It's been 7 years since we hired a new pilot.
The darkest days are behind us. Now the worst part of the job will be the cry baby whiners like Frontseat. I've said it before but will do so again, if the job sucks and you're miserable...LEAVE! United, Delta, American and others are all hiring.
Overall it's a great job. Not perfect, but one of the best anywhere. The single pay scale is great so you can bid what you want rather than chasing the pay rates. I hate two week Asia trips and will bid night sort flying. Others love the 3-4 weeks off in a row they often get being intl and abhor sitting the sort.
