Didn't they go to Paris, too?
What's the final FPL tally is from that boondoggle?
Sounds pretty cushy to me. Not to mention, a complete waste of our dues money.
To my knowledge the CDG trip never happened.
Several points for you:
1. If you're convinced that the information campaign was a waste, did you contact your reps to let them know? They (collectively the MEC) were the ones that authorized the actions of said committee.
2. There's nothing cushy about sitting in the lobby of a hotel passing out information for 8-10 hours at a crack. If your idea of cushy is having the occasional pilot take cheap shots at you - when you had nothing to do with his particular pet issue - then maybe you're onto something

The best part is having to maintain a pleasant demeanor even when the guy is getting personal and calling you every name in the book. Quite the cushy gig...
Btw, not to diminish the value of $60k (your number, first I've heard of it), but that comes out to about $5ish/pilot. I only mention that to keep in perspective how large of an organization we're talking about here. Like I said, I don't think the Paris trip ever happened, but if it did, you're getting a deal for $5/pilot.
I know it's unpopular on this forum to suggest volunteerism, but if you're so convinced it's a cushy deal, then I suggest you try it out sometime. You might join the rest who have done a little ALPA work in realizing that it's a thankless job - not the coveted seagull refuge that you make it out to be.
