Don't forget that it can and likely will take you a while to upgrade. That time spent as a lowly paid FO will count against you when you are trying to pay down the mortgate and save for retirement.

This entire mentality that it is "worth it to work at poverty wages" has to be thought about again. There is no reason that an FO has to be so lowly paid, at least not one that makes sense to a pilot.

I do agree that the goal is to become a captain. Let's just not forget that we have allready spent huge amounts of time and money to become First Officers. We deserve to be paid decently at least.
