Close. The magic number is one, but that does not guarantee an interview - just that your application will be reviewed. DAL Ranks all of its applicants according to standardized criteria. Having at least one internal recommendation will ensure your application is pulled out of the thousands of applications and ranked sooner. The actual recommendation does not help where you score on the ranking list, but puts you to the head of the list for ranking.
The timing of your interview will be determined by how high your application is ranked. Applications without recommendations will also be ranked for competitiveness but no telling when the company will get to it.

Great post and great insight, thanks! Before my rec posted to airline apps I received a "fix it/clarification" email. I corrected the yes/no radio button discrepancy, and since then I haven't heard anything, but hopefully having the rec will move it up the list and they will eventually get to it. The other variable is my availability which is >8 months out, and it's anyone's guess how that plays into an email invite. I'm going to the WAI conference in a few weeks and maybe that will help as well, who knows.
