Comment about 'base freezing for years' - Retirement bubble and some expansion should generate movement. How junior that movement will be is the huge unknown.
International? Newhires are occasionally getting 767I. Rumors of more newhires into the MIA 767I. MIA 737I is very junior and available.
If you want international and get a different bid status on day 2 you can put your bid in ANY bid status immediately. I think the current rule is company has a six month restriction(ie, they can't involuntarily move you within six months) but you can bid other seats/bases. Company can withhold you but worrying about that right now is getting way off into the weeds worrying about minutiae.
MIA international is the most diverse, and challenging, flying at AA. Challenging includes S.A. terrain flying and the reality of double all nighter flying.
