Yes. Outsourcing. and the senior guys (like Lee Moak) wonder why we are so hell bent to eliminate this fact from pilots' careers. Think about the effect of that chart from a money perspective.

Trying to be optimistic ... there is some good news for new hires...

The January 2014 AE bid award was posted on February 4. The goal of the AE was to adjust staffing for the 2014 summer operation, with our primary focus on the 7ER First Officer position. The AE award resulted in 296 AEs, 25 reinstatements and no displacements. On the bid we posted 50 7ER First Officer openings and filled 36 leaving 14 unfilled. ATL had six 7ER-B unfilled positions and DTW had eight. Other unfilled positions included: ATL73NB (6), DTW73NB (2), NYC73NB (31), DTW320B (5), NYC320B (13), ATLM88B (22), NYCM88B (19) and ATL717B (8). These positions will be filled by new hires and posted on future bids.
