Unless this has changed recently as in the last 2-3 years - you can be over 40 (think retired military pilot) and find yourself in a CBP cockpit. I know of a few that have done it. Shortly after I retired the rules were changed. When I first started looking in '08 timeframe - the age was still 37 max - no exception. By 2010 - it had been changed to up to 40 with prior experience as mentioned earlier and then the age went up even higher.
