Don't know about crashpads, but to build on what pilotgolfer posted, there are hotels alot cheaper than $70-90 a night. Some great deals on some weekends with AAA membership. Some hotels offer crew rates, especially if you work for a recogized airline.

I've gotten a room for $46 a night, but generally spend $55 to $65.
