"Sorry about your bad experience with the Jumpseat Reservation folks. Sometimes they treat us like that also."
Most of the people that work there are very nice and helpful. If you can't find the answers to your questions, I suggest you call again and hopefully you will talk to someone else.
On the other hand, about six months ago I walked up to the counter to check in. The lady at the desk completely ignored me, not even a hello. She kept working on her computer, and was carrying on a conversation with someone at another desk. Yes, she saw me, and ignored me for about five minutes, every now and then turning her back to me. Finally I said, "Could I check in please, I'm really starving."
At that time, she just let me have it, screeching about how she was so busy, and how I just needed to think about the person on the other side of the counter. It was weird, that high pitched head bobbing side to side thing (I don't know how people can do that with their neck). I was pretty flabbergasted, and I kept agreeing, "Yes, you need to think about the other person," hoping she would listen to her own words. I am very friendly and non-confrontational, and this woman was seriously crazy. All I could think was that either she thought I said something I didn't, or there was something very wrong with her.
Then I remembered, oh yeah, I'm in Memphis. Sometimes we get treated this way. But not usually at work.
