For sure. People don't treat others like that in my town. No turning their back on you when you come up to a fast food counter, having a loud, obnoxious conversation with their co-workers. They actually pay attention and treat you with dignity, no matter what you're wearing or how you look. I found in Memphis, if I wasn't dressed very nicely, the clerks could go through the entire transaction without a single word. Not hello, could you sign here, have a nice day. Not one word. I finally started complimenting them on the ability not to say a single word, leaving them confused. I don't know if they ever get that it wasn't actually a compliment!
