If you are based in the northern climes, I suggest a pair of these. I just ordered them as I flew with an FO wearing them. They were 10 years old and the soles looked almost unworn.

I've been wearing these for years and can attest to their durability. They are also very airport friendly, they do not have steel shanks.
The only thing I'd add is if you fly international a lot and take off your shoes during break, they can be a little tough to get back on if you do not plan for it.
