Using the previous posters reasoning, your type rating is issued and certified by the FAA. There are ways you could go outside your current employer and legally fly a 757/767 TODAY in the left seat. That makes you a Captain even though you can't hold the job on your current seniority list.

Yes, you do have a type. But no, you are not a captain. Captain is a job title from a company and nothing more. In the eyes of the FAA, you are a pilot in command.
