I'm as fair skinned as you get. So fair, in fact, that I could be used as "the visible human" if you held a bright light behind me. I don't tan, I burn, and that only takes a few minutes. With the exception of a few years, I've always lived where there sun shines most of the year.
I see the dermo once a year. He has to ask what I do. I get the once over, twice, with a bright light, followed by a black light. And this is in an area where they see all kinds of whacky sun related skin problems. My skin is fine, and I've never had anything sun related removed.
That said, everyone should see the dermo once a year.
I'd be more worried about getting the chute checked on a regular basis, most especially after 40.
