Just finished recurrent training at DAL.
The instructor for day 2 (great guy) spends most of his time working training issues and schedules...
He said if DAL hires 60 a month for the next 10 years we'll still be under staffed (he's done the math).
He said the training dept has been told to spin-up for training new hires for the next several years.
Just a rumor, I know. But a good rumor.

Yeah...if everything stays the same, sure enough. The problem is, nothing stays the same. The only thing constant is...Change!
We could be right around the corner from the next 9-11, or Global Economic Meltdown, or Merger, or, or, or...
So, while I hope everything stays the same, and Delta continues to make $2.6 Billion a year, forever, and they do hire 8,000 pilots in the next 10 years, if we just look back in history, we'll see -nothing- stays the same for more than about 5 years.
