Relax Captain Literal, I'm sure a lot of us picked this one simply because we enjoy flying, and because it fits better than the other reasons. I'd rather fly with someone doing it because they enjoy the job than someone who's in it for the money (delusional) or for the rank or wearing the spiffy uniform (vain). I see your point. You must admit though, there are those out there willing to fly just for the sake of flying itself. Those folks are dangerous to those of us combining our passion for flying with the career it can provide.
For the record, I'm in this business for 7 of the available 10 options. But I won't do it "no matter what."
