Well, I guess a struck a nerve, except for
buzzpat and
Scambo.
I flew with several young captains at EA, each if them envied us who had military careers or flew extensively outside the airline. Some of those '60s guys were hired with little flight time (some had little passion for it, too. Amazed me) and were really bored with it, especially with a failing line in their mid-40s. It was depressing to spend one trip with them, let alone a month.
Still, I can't remember a single trip, but still can remember loads of other flying. I love the hell out of my present gig, both the flying and the people--everyday IS different in any plane.
Make no mistake, I wish him well, may the next 41 years be a great career. Just think 41 years ago the DC-9 and the 727 was hot stuff? Oops, the -9 just left.
