Most of the reserve/ guard guys do the 7 and 7 and just tell the company when they will be unavailable. I'm sure the company prefers them to be doing as much as possible on their weeks off, but I know at least one guy who does almost every other normal work week at the guards. They will schedule around your reserve commitments, but they will do their best to schedule you as many of the 18 as they can around your military leave. That can easily lead to you never being at home. Most of the guys who are on the reserve schedule and not in the military still rarely do 7 in a row. I've done both schedules and the only times I did 7 in a row on reserve is when I extended. Good luck however you make it work.
